Someone actually did it! I am so very glad. It drove me crazy a couple of years ago just trying to do a table of ACT and SAT dates and locations for testing in the Upstate. Now there's a one-stop info web page that lists the current information on all standardized tests (most of them I've heard of, but some I haven't).
So, if you want to check this amazing site out go to: http://www.testdatescentral.com/ There you can click on the abbreviation for the test of interest, for example PRAXIS or SAT, and a new page opens to give you dates and many times a review of basic math topics. For the OAT, a test for optometry graduate school, you have practice questions in a variety of disciplines. I read the biology portion and learned some things about worms (yum-yum)!
I hope they keep this site up and running for a long time. It surely is easier than hopping around on the Internet to many different standardized test pages.

Just in time for school, Academics Upward is offering 20% off all course #tutoring contracts until September 25, 2012. If you need help in Algebra or Physical Science or Statistics, call me and we'll schedule you for tutoring for 2 hour blocks of time each week for no less than 6 weeks for lower grades and 12 weeks for high school. If you work for SRHS, their coupon book has a discount coupon, too!
It's been a hot and humid summer here in Spartanburg, SC, but we'll soon be back in school and doing school assignments, projects, and extracurricular activities. If you are in any grade or course and need tutoring, I help all people, all ages.
Seniors, remember your College Board test dates for Spartanburg as your test locations stop in early January. After that you will have to take your test in Greenville at one of their approved test sites. That means an extra hour in travel time! Guess What? First SAT Registration Deadline is Sept. 7, 2012!
That's right, for the first exam on November 3, your registration deadline is right after Labor Day weekend. In order to get your papers in on time, you probably should apply before the mail holiday on Monday of that week. See the SAT site for more information. http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-dates?s_kwcid=TC-3529-6734071005-be-1082773972
Although the ACT site http://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html has yet to post its 2012-2013 registration and test dates, the first ACT exam will be in late August. That means you need to start your tutoring with me the end of July if you want to sit that exam and have your registration in before you come for coaching!
Remember that summer is the best time to practice for your SAT and ACT exams and on my prior post, I have some reasons for doing just that! Call me at 864-278-2018 or email at drgreer@charter.net to take advantage of super savings.

Summer's a Great Time to Prep for a Standardized Test
You just finished your junior year in High School and you want to take the summer off and spend time at the beach, right? Nada. Get your books out before those fond memories of formulae and vocabulary words drift off into the twilight of your memory. Start studying for your ACT or SAT exam. Or if you've been thinking about graduate school, stop thinking and start studying for the GRE. Summer is the best time to get your scores up where you want them. The days are longer and you can get more finished after your work day. Perhaps the kids are at Grandma's for a month. Use the time to prepare for a tough exam.
This summer until August 15, Academics Upward is offering 15% off for all standardized test preparations: GED, EMS, SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT and others. Just give me an email at drgreer@charter.net or call at 278-2018 and we can get started. I can work around your schedule: mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Saturdays are also possible, but there is an additional $20 charge as it means I don't get to travel on the weekend while you are getting coached.

What Scores Will Be Viewed for Multiple ACT/SAT Attempts?
Hello Rising Juniors and 2012 HS Grads!
According to the blog, College Planning and Test Prep Made Easy, "how schools determine what is your best score will differ. Some universities use your single test date best. Others “superscore”, taking the highest SAT Reading, Math, and Writing scores even if they come from three different test dates. Most colleges do not “superscore” the ACT at this time, but that is a hot topic in admissions."
"Superscoring" seems to be another word for grading on the curve in my way of thinking. There is no way one can say any two exam versions are exactly equivalent in testing a students' ability to be a critical thinker, mathematician, problem solver, scientist, or English savant.
It seems to me the ideal method for admissions would be to take the best total score for a given day in all fairness since various parts of each type of entrance exam will be more or less difficult depending on the specific test a student is given. In other words, the math section might be a little more challenging on version A, but the English is a little less challenging on version A. Likewise, on a second attempt (version B), both parts might be a little more challenging, thus a lower overall score.
The bottom line is, don't keep retaking any exam without getting substantial help from a test prep coach like Academics Upward Tutoring before you attempt your first exam and again if you wish to retake the exam. I am running a 20% discount on all test prep contracts through the 10th of June for all you prospective college or graduate students.
Blessings,
Dr. Linda B. Greer

Have a Laugh at our New e-Culture!
Please go to the following link for your new bedtime story for you and your children: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ouOwpYQqic&feature=youtu.be
If you have ever read Goodnight Moon, you will find some similarities here, I do believe!
If your electronics are keeping you awake until the wee hours of the morning, it's time to set an automatic off for all of them to get the sleep you need to be an alert and mindful student. You need at least 8 hours each night as a teenager and more if you are a younger student.
Goodnight all!
